Shelter in the Storm...🌧

Inspiration 👏🏾 & Thought 💭 Isaiah 54:11, 12 KJV "O afflicted one, storm-tossed and not comforted, behold, I will set your stones in antimony, and lay your foundations with sapphires. Thou wretched. He continues the same subject, and promises not only that the Church shall be restored to her ancient splendor, but that God will cause her to be adorned with attire of greater magnificence, as if it had been wholly composed of precious stones."

This earnest address is exceedingly well fitted for soothing the grief of believers; for it represents the Church, which was ready to be drowned, as being now rescued by him from shipwreck. Whenever therefore we shall see her violently shaken by tempests, and weighed down by a load of distresses, and deprived of all consolation, let us remember that these are the very circumstances which induce God to give assistance.

"These seem to be general images to express beauty, magnificence, purity, strength, and solidity, agreeably to the ideas of the eastern nations; and to have never been intended to be strictly scrutinized, or minutely and particularly explained, as if they had each of them some precise moral or spiritual meaning.”

Heavenly Father, What a great privilege it is to be Your child and to be called by Your name. Thank You that You prove to be such a good and gracious God, Who is very patient and of great goodness. Thank You for the long-suffering mercy You showed to Your people Israel despite their errant ways, and what a confidence I have in You, that Your promises to the Church will similarly never fail. Thank You that You Who started a good work in me will continue it until the day of Christ Jesus, in Whose name I pray... AMEN 🙏🏾
